In summer of 2007 Setsuna was formed by Prahlad Erik Heirman with the idea of writing down-tempo tracks that would feature various talented musicians he had met in Hamburg’s vibrant music scene. The focus of the project was to combine real instruments played by outstanding musicians with programmed sequences using the best of today’s technology.
After recording the basic tracks for the album the first live performance took place on New Years Eve 2008 in Berlin’s famous Odyssee party. Not only did Setsuna fill the chill out area to capacity with mystified trancers, but a television crew filmed a special and a release deal was offered on the spot.
The members of Setsuna knew they were on to something and over the course of the next 2 years have continued to perfect the Setsuna sound as their busy schedules would allow. The Setsuna sound is defined by the diverse musical backgrounds of the band members and their live interaction with each other in their recording sessions.
Our goal is to make music where the spontaneity of human performance can interact with the mathematic precision of computer generated sequences, and through this mix allow for the creation of music beyond boundaries.
