Only one description fits Rachmaninov's #2 : All of humanity's feelings and emotions overtook and used Rachmaninov as a means to express it self ...

I believe this to be the finest of his three piano concertos. Sublime... impassioned, lovely.

Well put tolidehp! Just buy some used beat-up copy of a music theory book and start writing and reading 30 minutes everyday; the average person has a good 60 years in their life; I'm sure at 30 minutes a day for 30 years somebody one will produce at least one awesome work :p (don't forget your counterpoint! haha)

It is funny that at the comment section of each musical piece someone is saying "no human can write this"... i just want to know if a "human" cannot write an incredible piece of melody, who else should do it then?? a Dog? lol....every single one of us is capable of coming up with extraordinary innovations in our life. we just need to get know our capabilities and focus on them. I am sure this is the only secret behind the great work of these musicians. :)

last.fm has to get it together with how they organize their classical - on the rare times they get the composition right they swap from one performer/recording to the next.... drives me crazy... but hey I love rachmaninov!
