~The Beginning~

Fusing intensity and lyricism in a higher level and spreading melancholic melodies like disease, SERENITY IN MURDER, the Symphonic Death Metal sensation from Japan, will set sail on a journey to take the world by storm!

The youthful (average age of 21 as of 2001) sextet was formed in 2008. Being a music fan with a diverse taste from such heavy metal acts as EQUILIBRIUM, CRADLE OF FILTH or CHIMAIRA to Japanese pops like Miyuki Nakajima and Takako Okamura, Freddy <g> wanted to pursue something more than just composing music and showing it to his friends, and decided to form a band. He played some demos to Emi, known as a female screamer/growler within the university at that time, who liked the music and agreed to join him.

The name of the band does come from the title of the SLAYER song, but the reason why Freddy picked it up for the name of the band was not just because he liked that particular song, but he also liked the impact, its sound and the very “cold” atmosphere that the words have, which did also match his vision for the band.

Almost for about a year since the formation, however, they couldn’t have a stable lineup with the exception of Freddy and Emi, so they spent the time mostly composing songs. Meanwhile, through his friend from childhood, Shuntaro, Freddy was introduced to a skilled guitar player from Shuntaro’s university. Freddy was surprised when he met Ryuji <g>, because Freddy had “known” him through his outstanding guitar playing videos he had made available on the internet.

I am happy that the Japanese metal scene is getting bigger (or at least I'm starting to know more bands :p)

There is so much potential here. I am very impressed. The vocals don't reach out at me as much as I wish they would. As though they need to be louder in the mix. Kick them up a notch and I'm sold. I look forward to their future releases.

Nope, I've looked for a higher quality rip, but no, there are none (public anyway). But maybe if we wait for some time I thing it might come up, considering that the album is quite new :) And well, sure, Chthonic have their unique sound and I do prefer that they also keep it that way. But I wish their older (before Takasago Army) had their newer sound... having just one album each to listen to of both Chthonic and Serenity In Murder is sad T_T

Chthonic should do their own thing, bro. I can't seem to find any higher quality of SiM's stuff than 192kbps, tho. Anyone?

Their sound is so epic and melodic, I wish Chthonic would take after that :D If they did that, Chthonic would be the absolute best band ;)
