I can't believe how few people listen to this band. Is it because of the hyphenated vs. unhyphenated names?

I didn't like them when I saw them live but their albums are actually much better. Good surprise.

That schizoid aspect is exactly what made 'Sapphire Eyes High' a stunner (as well as many of their other great tracks).

The first album plays a lot on repetition and driving rhythyms and has a lot in common with the first track (ayisha abyss) on Abyss. Of course there are plenty of shorter, more dreamy tracks but most of the first album is noisy as hell. Although 'Sapphire Eyes High' contains one of my favourite dreamy, sweet shoegaze moment ever if you can sit through the noisy guitars at the beginning.

Okay so this is the only album of theirs I've heard. The first song took me by surprise. I was expecting pretty pleasant shoegaze-y dream pop and instead got a blistering piece of nearly atonal noise-rock that sounded like it could be an Oneida track or maybe Shit and Shine's "Ladybird" without the hardcore influence. And then it became kind of like I expected for a while, and then near the end I heard traces of a blown-out Olivia Tremor Control or something. All in all, a pretty excellent experience. Is the first like this?
