Biography

Conceived and formed in Louisville, Ky. in early 2000, Seluah immediately surfaced as a provocative departure from the city’s well-regarded independent music scene. By combining skillful musicianship with a stylish mix of Trip-hop, Post rock, Ambient and Dub influences, Seluah creates innovative music that is both beautiful and accessible; Ambient yet substantial. Passionately engaging solid rhythms and erotic, searching melodies, Seluah crafts truly entrancing and breathtaking music. The group’s unique warm sound has been favorably described as melding elements of Massive Attack, Portishead, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and The Ventures.

Seluah consists of four respected touring musicians: Guitarists Andrew Killmeier (Boom-Bip) and Matt Johnson (Boom-Bip, People Noise), along with Drew Peace on bass & Edward Grimes (Rachel’s, Quarterstick Records) on drums and vocals.
Seluah’s self-titled debut EP has earned very enthusiastic press, including raves such as, “One of the best records to ever come out of Louisville” (Louisville Eccentric Observer), “A psych-dub masterpiece,” (Ear X-tacy) & “In a just World, this album would go down in history…recognizable only by those who hear it, having no equal or nothing with which to compare” (DW Box.) Upon the release of their self-titled EP, It was universally embraced by those who reviewed it. The band was featured on the cover of Louisville Music News. The Louisville Courier-Journal’s respected music editor, Jeffrey Lee Puckett reviewed the album to a near-perfect 3 ½ stars out of 4, with the single complaint being that the album was too short. The EP has remained on the very short list of CD Baby Editor’s Picks on both of its listed genres (Trance and Dub) for over seven years.
