giving it a try and very meh so far, like most modern prog it feels super strained and forced, like he puts in all the gimmicks so he can go "look guys, prog!" but it's totally restrained by how much pop shit is in the music

Just started listening to "War and Peace & Other Short Stories" by now, and - WOW - already the second song "The English Eccentric" is blowing the rest of my hair off. That was really a great surprise! - And still there is 60 more minutes to come...

Sean has a great voice. I don't really get why Big Big Train felt like replacing him. Only heard "The English Eccentric" from his solo album, but I definitely need to hear the rest.

I'm stunned by this album ...... at the moment Epitath for a Mariner is the stand out track for me... although Learn How to Learn is probably the best song Jon Anderson didn't write.

Recorded at Lee Abraham's Dockside Studio, the debut solo CD "War And Peace & Other Short Stories" from Sean Filkins (ex Big Big Train) has a great production, with drums recorded and engineered by Karl Groom at Thin Ice Studios, where the CD was also mastered. The 6 powerful and melodic tracks include a number of guest musicians like Gary Chandler (Jadis), Dave Meros (Spock's Beard), John Mitchell (It Bites, Frost*), Lee Abraham, and more.
