• the lost garage session

Fantastic! I was thinking only last week how I've got loads of Mongo practice sessions and gigs on tape but all the Screaming Wildspread stuff is studio demos. Wouldn't it be great to have something that captured what the band were like just playing together, I thought to myself.
Well, I was looking for something to listen to while cooking my tea today and I pulled out an old cassette with nothing written on it and the label pulled off. Was chuffed to find it contained a full Screaming Wildspread set recorded in the garage at Karen's house. It's obviously we haven't been together very long as it's before Sarah got any drums, the beats are on the traditional sledge seat and oil can!
It's brilliant finding stuff like this. The enthusiasm and gusto really comes over despite the hideous sound quality. It also reminded me of loads of stuff, some of which I'd forgotten. Like how much we used to switch around between songs. There's one tune with me singing (hem hem)…
