The production combined with Scott's baroque vocals makes this a pretty terrifying affair. Great stuff and I hope the Drift is just as good.

The first time I heard this I was confused. Ten years later it is one of my all time favourites. Conjures up storm clouds, farms at night, lights twinkling on dark hills, moon glinting off crop blades and the knowing but silent tension rippled through livestocks torso...fascinating

bought my copy six years ago. I was 16 then. yeah. more people should encounter such starkly avant garde mindfucks like this at such an impressionable age. "IT'S A BEAUTIFUL NIIIIIIGHT, YEAH!"

Just to join the chorus of praise for the Drag City reissue. It's stunning. And this is still better than The Drift, brilliant as that album undoubtedly is.

was just listening to "the cockfighter" in my headphones with the volume turned up....and it scared the shit out of me. forgot about that abrupt change! picked up the lp reissue on drag city this week...it's beautiful.

And to think Scott Walker made this in the 90s just goes to prove how much of a "30 century man" he is indeed. This is one of the finest albums I've ever heard.

@thisisobvious - yeah, I saw that in the Scott Walker doc and it was pretty weird to hear him say that. His reaction seemed pretty excessive...almost like there's more to the story there or something.
