About this album

Canadian Singer, Songwriter, Musician, engineer and producer, has been involved in music and production from the age of 10, when he started playing drums.
By 15 he had added bass, and at 18, added keyboards.
Scott had played with many bands as a teenager and by the time he was 20 , he released a solo album called “Boats In Rivers”, which garnered extensive radio play and video play for the single.

2 years later he released “Role Boys”. Both singles were nominated for U-know awards and Casby awards in Canada in 1983 and 1986.
Scott then opened a recording studio and began to focus on record production and sound engineering.
In 2005 , He and long time friend and guitarist David Barrett, released an album of instrumentals entitled “Amitahba”.
In 2009 they followed it up with an album called “Radium Lustre”.
Scott is again working on solo material for a new release in 2011

My Fathers’ Paintings is the 2012 Followup to Radium Lustre. 8 new tracks by Scott Matthews. Scott wrote and performed all songs, including vocals, piano, synths, virtual orch, bass and drums.
Many songs have direct or underlyiing themes based around mariner lore and myths. “The rime of the ancient mariner”, figures prominently into many of these songs lyrics and atmospheric motifs, that lend themselves to the ethereal and mystical quality of the sea.
The songs are essentially piano centric, but with a strong leaning towards prog rock of the 70s’ (Genesis, Supertramp) and the more English and German vibes of the 80s’ (Eno, Japan, Bowie, Roxy)
