About this album

Savage Amusement is a studio album by the German heavy metal band Scorpions, released in 1988. It peaked at #5 in the USA where it became platinum that June.

The album was the follow up to the tremendously successful Love at First Sting and had some musical differences when compared to its predecessor. The overall feel of the album shows that Scorpions wanted to experiment with some different genres, but nothing too drastic, going to a more radio friendly style. There are still some straight hard rock songs, like “Don’t Stop At The Top” and “Media Overkill”, but there are some songs that show a more experimental side, like the progressive rock influenced “Walking On The Edge”. The song “Passion Rules The Game” also shows some influence from dance music.

I know people say this very often, but this album is truly amazing! I love their 1st album with Rudolf and his brother, Michael, then the Uli albums from Fly to the Rainbow to their last album, also live album, Tokyo Tapes, with Ulirich Roth (Uli Jon Roth), and from then to the Mathias albums, but this album stood out, even after I heard Lovedrive and Animal Magnetism! Love the tone, sound, whatever you want to call it, I love Klaus' voice, everything just fits, you know? It just all sounded right, sounded equal, harmonized, equalized, it sounded...right

Good album, but Mutt Lange killed the mood on this album by trying to make a new Hysteria... too bad.
