About this album
The cover was created by the design firm Hipgnosis and, as with earlier Scorpions album sleeves, courted controversy.
The RIAA certified ‘Animal Magnetism’ as Gold on March 8, 1984, and Platinum on October 28, 1991.
The original vinyl release had the lyrics printed on the card inner-bag.

Good beginning (tracks 1-2), weak middle part (3-6) and great ending (7-9). But definitely one of their best albums.

“Animal Magnetism” não ficou consagrado como um clássico da segunda fase da banda, também pudera, quando pouco tempo depois a banda lançou os aclamados “Blackout” e “Love At First Sting”, e, o anterior “Lovedrive”, que já havia apresentado a categoria do guitarrista Mathias Jabbs e ainda com grandes composições que ajudam a empurrar “Animal Magnetism” para o fim da fila dos meus álbuns preferidos dos escorpiões. E assim fica fácil mensurar o tamanho dessa gigante e poderosa banda, quando em um dos seus álbuns menos importantes tem faixas como “Only A Man”, “Lady Starlight”, “Make It Real” e “The Zoo”, esta última com certeza é uma das faixas mais marcantes da minha vida com suas lindas guitarras distorcidas.

@Oniren, you're half right, yes it was Michael, then Ulrich, but during the Lovedrive album Michael came back for the album only and helped record some songs, like he wrote 'Coast to Coast' and was a guitarist on other tracks as well, but he wasn't in the band, and Jabs was still the lead guitarist in that case

Pretty good album, but it doesn't quite compare to their other material. Still, the song list is great and the two best tracks are Make It Real and The Zoo. @ErikBlond You're wrong about the loss of Michael Schenker. He was only a member of the Scorpions for their first album Lonesome Crow. The next four albums feature Ulrich Roth as the lead guitarist until Matthias Jabs comes in on the sixth one, Lovedrive, and gives the Scorpions what would become their signature sound.

But, to be fair. If i'd get to choose between this record and their 1982 hit record (No One Like You) Blackout i'd honestly go with this one. It's somewhat more consistent and well produced.

Actually, despite the loss of Michael Schnenker the previous year(Lovedrive) this remains a pretty solid record. However, some parts are just rewritten straight from the Lovedrive album. ''Don't Make No Promises'' for example resembles ''Another Piece Of Meat'' a bit too much, but that doesn't stop it from rocking like a motherfucker though. Only problem is that is a tad bit weaker but if you're inte Scorpions you won't mind it at all. Overall, i'd give this album an 3,5 if i was to rate on a scale of 5. It's a great Scorps album, just not their greatest.

So an album can only be strong, if it contains a hit!? Some of the strongest albums contains "no hits". It is about quality... and this album contains nothing BUT quality... a top album!!!
