  • Once Again, We're Victorious

    Morning Sports Fans,

IF you didn't already know, yesterday saw the impromptu online launch of the new Scarfboy EP, posted on last.fm. It is entitled the 'Once Again I'm Victorious EP' and contains 4 fully-finished tracks, produced by Thom James AKA Scarfboy himself. All four tracks feature a small selection of instruments; acoustic guitar, piano, wurlitzer, organ and harmonica, and has a very lo-fi sound. The tracklisting is as follows:

    Rachel's SongWedding GownLily WhiteSeabreeze

Thom has said of his new work: This small collection of songs make me very proud. I wrote or had a hand in writing all of these songs on the new EP over a period stretching back almost 4 years. Some of them we're meant for different things, but I was unsure I'd ever get them recorded the way they were originally intended. So, rather than losing them to the history books, I took my time, recorded them to the best of my ability, whilst trying to offer a new angle on the sound; trying to keep a certain 'demo'…

  • Been a while...

I got so many of these fucking things, various myspace, Facebook, Facebook artist page, virb and virb artist pages, last.fm, last.fm artist, last.fm labels, reverbnation, blogger etc, etc... the list is endless but I suppose its been a while since i've just been a 'scrobbler' here on last.fm.

Scarfboy takes up so much of my time, since late 2007, i've been doing some sturdy work with Marshal Plan and even more recently, reviving Guns For Lovers, which I've been having muchos fun with, and every time I set to, writing, scribbling and tossing out ideas on page and screen, I've been doing what I love doing the most. Listening to music.

Hand & Face has been a vehicle i've been used to drive these projects in, and in an entirely corny, stupid metaphor, the music has been the fuel.

2008 - and the latter half of 2007 - was great for finding new bands, championing them amongst friends and scrobbling to my heart's content. March this year, has been nothing short of normal. …
  • An Announcement To Answer...?

    Hello there,

This is the first journal post by this label, and at the moment, its all very much a one-man-band kinda thing. All in one bedroom, one computer and so on. Maybe one day this will get bigger and better. To be honest, thats what I'm really hoping but I suppose record labels are on a bit of a downer and indie record labels.... well, have they ever really been on an up?

Either way, it was important to get this introduction out of the way now, so that it whatever this ever turns out to be, it will always have been at this small stage, with just a few pieces of equipment and a bit of ambition.

So, at least Hand & Face is coming at you with new things. More than we had a week ago.

    So far, we've got:

Two Scarfboy EP's and a third on the way.The original Guns For Lovers debut albumAll new artwork and label logo.Links to the new Scarfboy Indiestore on 7digital.com

So, we do at least have something for you at this time. We'll update as and when but don't expect it to be a regular thing just yet.
