One of the artistic guises of Atlanta’s Scott Herren, who is more well known for his work as Prefuse 73. The first Savath & Savalas album, 2000’s ‘Folk Songs for Trains, Trees, and Honey’ is a low-light blend of laidback percussion, live instruments, and Herren’s trademark glitchy computer-aided designs, which all falls quietly between the ambient-electronica and post-rock genres.
The second Savath & Savalas album, ‘Apropa’t’ emerged from Guillermo Scott Herren’s adopted Barcelona in 2004. Eva Puyuelo Muns co-wrote and sings her way breathily through the record, with Herren’s arrangements simmering contently in the background; a folksy concoction of acoustic guitars, brushed drums, and the occasional flourish of flugelhorn.
Herren has also recorded as Prefuse 73, Delarosa & Asora, and Piano Overlord.

Golden Pollen is a decent album and has some great tracks (Te Amo... is wonderful), but it really lacks Eva vocals. Being a genius producer doesn't make you a genius singer! Scott's voice is mediocre, somewhat damaging the potential of its own music! Apropa't was such a perfect record... I hope he gets Eva or a new (proper) singer to join for the next LP.

Hopefully, I'm not the only one to miss Eva's vocals on Golden Pollen. On top of that, this album needs a complete proof-reading of all the lyrics in Spanish... I stick to Apropa't and Mañana, unbeatable.

Probably the best project of Scott Herren's for those who aren't into hip-hop. 'Apropa't' is an otherworldly album. Something even I (who hates vocals with a passion) liked. 'Folk Songs for Trains, Trees and Honey' and 'Mañana' follow it closely, but just aren't as astounding. 'Golden Pollen' is mediocre in my opinion. That's probably the reason why it wasn't released on Warp in the first place.
