Sallyforth formed around Easter time in 2005 and by combining energetic indie with elements of explosive progressive rock they have established themselves as one of the best undiscovered talents in the country. They draw their sound from both new and old with Bloc Party and The Who being massive influences on the band. The band released thier first EP in January 2006. With the combination of James Holdens powerful vocal delivery and George Collins' thunderous and at times 'Keith Moonesque' drum beats, the pure energy of the EP was gallantly reproduced on stage at all of their many live shows. The release of their second EP in August 2006 simply titled 'Sallyforth II' saw the band raise the bar dramatically and produce a master piece that should be the soundtrack to every indie music lovers summer. James Holden passed away on the morning of the 4th December 2006.
