Burnt Out Car (4:18)

Cover of Travel Edition 1990-2005

From Travel Edition 1990-2005 and 4 other releases

Written by Bob Stanley & Pete Wiggs
Original version produced by Saint Etienne in 1995
Additional production & remix (1996 mix) by Brian Higgins (Xenomania)

Notes Initially recorded in 1995 for an X-Files soundtrack but the track was rejected. The song was heavily remixed in 1996 by Brian Higgins (later of production house, Xenomania) and provisionally earmarked for a single release to trail the remix compilation, Casino Classics. That release was eventually shelved and only appeared as a promo CD available to fanclub members. This 1996 remix did however eventually appear as an A-side (albeit in a slightly updated version) in September 2008 as a taster for the greatest hits compilation, London Conversations. The original 1995 version appears on fanclub album Nice Price, the first remix from 1996 is on Casino Classics, and the updated 2008 version of the 1996 remix appears on London Conversations.

I don't think the new (2008) Xenomania mix improved on the Balearico mix, Higgins overworked the keyboard hook a bit too much for me

Good news vboy, it's scheduled for a September 15 UK release as their "comeback" single, and their back catalogue albums are due for re-release as double CDs, with a new best of (entitled 'London Conversations') also due for release. source: Music Week, 16 August 08

A Xenomania classic, It is a shame that it got overlooked like it did.
