7 Jul 2014, 18:08 by fm014Hi,
I find it ironic to spend those shiny summer days with dark tunes. But I’d say you never know what makes you resonate. Anyway...
Last week in covers:
> Bright Light Bright Light : new album alert. After one brief encounter I can say that some tracks have potential. Let’s see, if I will get into those groves. :P
> Coldplay : I revisited “Ghost Stories” - just to find out how much “Another’s Arms” has grown on me.
> The Killers : After a while it’s easy to say that “Battle Born” is not their best album - apart from a few catchy tunes - “Deadlines And Commitments” for instance.
> Lykke Li : “I Never Learn” is a great album and “Never Gonna Love Again” is my favorite track from it. Yep, melancholic tunes are my thing these days.
> Madonna : One may wonder, if there are only dance tunes on “MDNA”. No, there are also softer songs. I recommend “Falling Free”.

14 Jun 2013, 21:52 by fdunihoIn a journal article called Development of my Taste in Music, I am giving a long, meandering autobiographical account of how my taste in music developed. Here I'm going to just highlight the main albums that shaped my tastes, or where I'm not sure what the exact album was, are representative of the direction my taste was taking. To the best of my ability, I will list albums in the order that I first listened to them. For some classical music, I will list a different recording, because the original vinyl is not available on Last.fm, or I just don't remember what it was. This is a work in progress, and gaps may be filled in as time goes on. It is fairly lengthy, but if you're short on time, you can just look over the album covers.
This is not my first recording of Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite, but it is the one I later bought on CD. …

10 Jul 2012, 21:51 by trevorrabinSat 7 Jul – Night of the Prog
Seventh year of festival and my fourth time there in Loreley was again timeless event. The difficulties were only during first hours there, when we realized the bitterly funny reality of organization of camping site. Boss of the camp stormed to our place on motorcycle in the camp where we just played guitars with couple of other fans, sitting on the grass and enjoying ourselves and not disturbing anyone. But we didn't have tickets to sit on that grass unfortunately... Boss started to shout it is his property, we have to leave, said also some nasty words and finally called police... Fortunately no one came to arrest us, so we survived till next day when performances began at noon.
Hasse Froberg (of The Flower Kings fame) came with his companions on the stage, as the opening act of the whole festival. He played something from his solo, actually very decent and interesting stuff, even I didn't know it before. Then, Enochian Theory entered the stage. …
