Cliffs of Gallipoli (5:50)

Cover of The Art of War

From The Art of War and 7 other releases

The battle of Gallipoli in 1915 is widely regarded as a symbol of military incompetence and a catastrophic waste of thousands of lives. A few commanders however, like the Turkish general Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (later to become the first president and founder of modern Turkey) and Australian brigade commanders John Monash and Henry Chauvel showed outstanding courage and competence in this sad chapter of human history

Hear them whisper,
voices from the other side
Hear them calling
former foes now friends are resting side by side

Ön most fekszik a talajban egy baráti ország. Fiaitok most fekszik a mi keblén, és a béke. Miután vesztette életét e földön váltak fiaink is. Musztafa Kemal (1934)
