Ogden UT, United States

A fiddle player since the age of 5, Ryan Shupe first worked as part of a group at 10 years old when his dad brought together a bunch of talented kids to play in a band. He joined various types of musical groups in his teens and in college, only to
be disappointed to see them break up just as they seemed to be in a groove.

He decided to start his own band that would not break up and called it the RubberBand, because it was meant to be elastic. He brought in the players he needed but only when he needed them. (There might be just one other musician sharing the stage with him or there might be four others.) The lineup changed constantly until, without even trying to make it happen, the membership jelled.

Ryan Shupe & The RubberBand is an American country music group from Ogden, Utah founded in the mid-1990s. Currently, the band’s lineup comprises Ryan Shupe (fiddle, lead vocals), Roger Archibald (guitar, vocals), Ryan Tilby (bass guitar, vocals), Craig Miner (banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, guitar, vocals), and Bart Olson (drums). After recording four studio albums on an independent record label, Ryan Shupe & The RubberBand was signed to Capitol Records in 2005. Their first album for Capitol, 2005’s Dream Big, produced a Top 40 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in its title track.

Their next album, Last Man Standing, was released on May 27th, 2008 by their new label, Montage Music Group.

I guess they never did quite make it any further than that one brush with mainstream success. I saw them ten years or so ago though, and they put on a great show!

This is the song that I hear at the close of Peter Tillman's show - I LOVE IT!!! It almost sums up the total of about 50% of my lyrical intentions IN ONE GREAT TUNE!!! Kinda what folks are calling New Grass, I'd call it Folk Bluegrass Acoustic Progressive Rock World New Age - but that's my own problem, eh? Don't call it anything...just listen once...please ...Dream Big

Thanks for the great Christmas concert with Sam Payne and Peter Breinholt on Saturday! I'm still trying to figure out why your live album has different versions though. I prefer the one with Banjo Boy on it.

Any other bands out there similar to the guys? Garth Brooks, Big & Rich, and the other over there on the similar list are not even remotely close.
