The Peart-penned lyrics of this Moving Pictures single deal with the reclusive and intensely private drummer's struggles to cope with fame. Meanwhile, Lifeson's mournful, lonesome guitar solo is a testament to the isolation that came with their success. Ironically, the track only gained the band more attention, hitting #4 on the Mainstream Rock charts and #55 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Limelight” is also a favorite of Rush fans and classic rock fans alike. -- watchmojo
As much as I love this song and album... Neither are their best. their best albums *(at least for me) are 2112 and Permanent Waves. Best song... Too many to choose from. It really might be 2112 though, it's just so epic.
Is it possible for 3 guys to put out more sound than this? I think not. Not my favorite group or album, especially because this was SO ridiculously overplayed in Detroit in the 80's. Don't get me wrong, I still like this band and album. I actually saw them do this live at Cobo Hall in 1979.
