I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel
You were talking so brave and so sweet
Giving me head on the unmade bed
While the limousines wait in the street

  • mattgood14 down below says it best -- I'm not usually a big fan of covers but Leo's songs are so great for drama, heart and soul to be interpreted!
  • I love Leonard Cohen but this is just beautiful
  • i loved you best
  • amazing...perfect.
  • I feel its a toss up...the raw intensity of Cohen, who is essentially "reciting" the song, or the inflection and pageantry of Rufus. Both serve the song well, but in a different way. When I want to feel like I'm seeing these events acted out...its this version. However, when I want to put the emotion I need to on this's Cohen's all the way. One of the most beautiful parts of Leonard's music is it's malleability across artists and performances.
  • but cohen serves the lyrics better
  • he takes perfect lengths and shorts with his intonation, compared to the original
  • I definitely prefer this to the original.
  • we are ugly, but we have the music!
  • ''We are ugly but we have the music.'' !
