Avalon (4:14)

From More Than This: The Best of Bryan Ferry + Roxy Music and 107 other releases

Avalon is a beautifully lush, extremely well produced song about a love that initiates at the end of a party. Mentions of the Brazilian samba and Bossanova add to the sophisticated, sartorial and elegant sexually charged atmosphere captured in the uber-cool voice of Bryan Ferry - sung with effortless ease and clarity. The background fades out of focus due to the heady cocktail of beauty, and possible imbibing of alcohol, cigarettes etc. Avalon is the title track from the UK No. 1 album released in 1982. The song entered the UK singles chart on 19th June 1982 and spent 6 weeks on chart, reaching No.13. The Avalon album entered the UK album chart on 5th June 1982 and spent 57 weeks on chart, reaching No.1 (their third UK No.1 album and last studio album). The single Avalon was the second single released from the album after ‘More than This’. The song is written by the lead singer Bryan Ferry, mixed by Bob Clearmountain and produced by Rhett Davies and Roxy Music. Avalon has been performed and recorded ‘live’ too. For further listening, try ‘Same old Scene’ from Flesh and Blood- their previous album, and all the other Roxy, Ferry, Eno, Manzanera and Mackay albums.

Now the party's over, I'm so tired
Then I see you coming out of nowhere
Much communication in a motion
Without conversation or a notion

Simply splendid! Fans of Roxy Music: I guarantee you will love Bark, the UK's premier comedy pamphlet (actually, the only one). Google 'Bark Pamphlet' and get yourselves a bit of nice.

Once again, the younger me would be shocked to find the older me enjoying Roxy Music. Once again, I must add that the younger me was a buffoon. It also reminds me of Les from Vic Reeves Big Night Out - ha ha!

Would Love this track if my Love button worked! Brilliant production on this track. Roxy at their most polished, if not their best.
