Rowetta Satchell (born 5th January 1966 in Manchester, England) is an English Black Jewish singer.

Rowetta is most noted for her appearance on series 1 of The X Factor in the UK, in which she came fourth after Tabby Callaghan, G4 and Steve Brookstein. The exposure got her a record deal, and her first solo album Rowetta was released in October 2005 on Gut Records.

Rowetta’s musical career began as a professional pub singer, before progressing to releasing two singles with the Vanilla Sound Corp in 1987, whilst appearing as a backing singer on numerous songs. During this time, she released two songs - Back Where We Belong and Passion. In 1988 she collaborated with Dynasty of 2 on the single Stop This Thing. Her biggest idol is Diana Ross who inspired her to become a singer.

Rowetta continued to work as a backing singer during the late 1980s and 1990s, including providing backing vocals for Inner City and for Simply Red’s Stars album. In 1989 she joined The Happy Mondays as a backing singer. She featured on their single Step On which charted at Number 5. After the Happy Mondays break up, she did not return to the music business immediately, although she did play herself in the film 24 Hour Party People.
