Biography

There are three bands with the name Root.

1) Root is a Czech black metal legend from city of Brno founded in 1987 by Big Boss and Blackie. Root was one of the original pre-second-wave black metal bands, following in the footsteps of Bathory and Venom, while taking the genre in a more refined, less savage direction. Their style has since progressed towards a more epic, dark heavy metal sound with a clean-sung vocal approach, but their music can still be recognized as black metal at its core due to the unchanged ideology of the band. After the album Madness of the Graves (2003), Blackie left Root to concentrate on his band Cales. Blackie also played in side-project Entrails, an old school black-thrash metal band.

In English: The thunders of wrath doth slumber in the North, in the likeness of an oak whose branches are dung-filled nests of lamentation and weeping laid up for the Earth, which burn night and day and vomit out the heads of scorpions and live sulphur mingled with poison. These be the thunders that in an instant roar with a hundred mighty earthquakes and a thousand as many surges, which rest not, nor know any time here. One rock bringeth forth a thousand, even as the heart of man doth his thoughts. Woe! Woe!, Yeah!, woe be to the Earth, for her iniquity is, was, and shall be great. Come away! But not your mighty sounds!

@next_: It's the Tenth Enochian Key in Czech language - "Hromy Hněvu podřimují na Severu Podobny dubu, jehož větve jsou plny hnoje, A hnízd nářků, a pláče, snášených na Zemi Které spalují Noc i Den a vyvrhují stáda škorpionů A vypouštějí síru smíchanou s Jedem To jsou Hromy, které jsou okamžitě připraveny Rozeřvat se stovkami mohutných Katastrof A statisíců Pohrom, po kterých nezůstane nic A nikdo zde nic nepozná Jedna skála porodí tisíce Právě když Srdce Člověka dosáhne jeho Myšlenek Běda... běda... ano, běda Zemi Protože její zločinnost je, byla a bude obrovská Odleťte! Ale bez Vašeho mocného dunění"

If you like The Book I suggest you go for Kärgeräs, the only album which The Book is second to, in my opinion.

The Book is wonderful. What songs do they play frequently? I will see them this summer on a festival and I know only this album. The others are supposedly black metal, what should I try next? Temple in the Underworld?
