March 14th, 2007 - by Ivan Chopik

Wikipedia defines Bumblefoot as “ulcerative pododermatitis - a bacterial infection and inflammatory reaction on the foot of birds of prey and rodents.” However, it’s safe to say that in the music world the name is more often associated with Ron Thal – lead guitarist for Guns n’ Roses, a writer, and a producer. Before joining GnR almost a year ago, he’s released 8 solo records since 1995. Bumblefoot is a true virtuoso guitarist and a highly original writer with a style that I’d describe as hard rock with a quirky and experimental flavor to it.

Check out his latest solo release Normal, for a taste of his playing. It has also been confirmed that Bumblefoot will appear on the new Guns n’ Roses album, Chinese Democracy – an album that has been in the works for over 10 years. It is expected that album will finally be released in 2007, although no set date has been announced yet. For more info on Bumblefoot and his music, go to

Ron Thal, also known as Bumblefoot, is an artist in the true sense of the word. It is not about fame or ego for Ron, it’s about the music. He brings a unique and refreshing twist to every thing he does. His wild sense of humor, telling it like it is attitude, and his generous heart make him one of the more endearing artists of our time and the Rock Against Diabetes team is thrilled to have Ron on board.
