Biography
Romulo Fróes comes to his second record with all the characteristics that made his first work receive many compliments. His deep influences from samba can still be heard, permeating all songs with melancholic lyrics being framed by the sad singing of Romulo. However something points toward a new direction when it comes to how the disc sounds. This time it’s loaded of influences from great records from the 70’s, by artists such as Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Jards Macalé, which gives a pleasant weirdness to this balance between delicate songs with some apotheosizing arrangements.
The combination of the 7-string acoustic guitar of Zé Barbeiro, along with great Lanny Gordin guitars, expresses very well what one can wait from the record. With “Cão”, Romulo Fróes marks his place on the new Brazilian music scene as an artist influenced by tradition of great songs of Brazil, but goes further pointing new directions, which consolidates his music even more. In 2009, launched the double album called “No Chão Sem O Chão”, very well received by the critics. Both “Cão” and “No Chão Sem O Chão” were launched by ybmusic.
In 2011, also through YB Music, Romulo releases his fourth cd, called “Um Labirinto Em Cada Pé”.
