There are four bands called Rodan:

1) Rodan (1992) emerging from the same circle of musicians that spawned Squirrel Bait and Slint, Rodan formed in 1992 out of a failed high school rap project. I don't know you guys, I can't help but respect Slint a bit more for their originality... and Spiderland is unique in its precision, flawless execution, and stark minimalism. No note is out of place, where as most related bands are wild and everywhere (not a bad thing; this is often how you get emotion from music), but with Spiderland everything is perfectly in place, every note, every breath, every PAUSE had a purpose. It uses negative space better than... mostly everything I've ever heard. So... Slint >> Rodan = June of 44. I'm sorry guys. I really like those two bands, but saying Rodan is better than Slint is akin to saying "the Rolling Stones are better than the Beatles" or "Nirvana is better than the Pixies and Sonic Youth". It's just... no. No. It's not even a contest. I don't understand it.
