Rocket Science

1) Rocket Science emerged from Melbourne in mid-1998. The indie rock four-piece, which consists of Roman Tucker (vocals), Kit Warhurst (drums), Dave Gray (bass), and Paul Maybury (guitar), had dreams of making it big in music since childhood. They compose a gritty, glam rock sound that’s a little more edgy than the Vines’ candied punk. Their first song, “Welcome Aboard,” was written on the same day Rocket Science came together. From there, they built an Australian following, which later collected U.K. fans. Opening dates with Mudhoney and the Supersuckers following into 2000 and their debut full-length, Welcome Aboard the 3C10, appeared the next year. Rocket Science’s sleazy, arrogant style was a buzz well into 2002 when they recorded the sophomore effort, Contact High. It wouldn’t see a release date in Europe until mid-2003; however, fans tied themselves over with the electric Run Like a Gun EP which appeared earlier that spring.

2) Rocket Science was an / band, active in the mid 1990’s. They released two 7”s, both in 1996. Soon after, they changed their name to Gravity Wins Again. Fans of Christie Front Drive will like this.

3) Free jazz quartet with Craig Taborn, Evan Parker, Peter Evans, and Sam Pluta

they're still alive! i just spotted them on a festival lineup April 3-5 just north of Melbourne! it's called Boogie Festival Tallarook. it's weird, they have no website, no FB page, they have a Myspace page (eww)... but no mention of this anywhere

The Australian Rocket Science has a lead singer called Roman who partied so hard he went into a coma for a few days. That's pretty awesome. They are a great band in their peak, not sure if they're still around.

The "emo" Rocket Science is awesome. They're more reminiscent of Texas is The Reason than Christie Front Drive, in my opinion.

The new album is awesome. While it doesn't quite compare to 3c10 or Contact High, it still rocks hard. I can't wait till they come up to Brissie again. btw, completely agree with wisconsin about the Vines comparison. RS are one of the best live rock n roll acts you could ever want to see.

why compare these guys to the vines? these guys are consumate rock n roll musicians, the vines are a ramshackle unit of mediocrity
