Biography
Fascinated by the art form of popular music, and how it transcends all that differentiates people from one another, singer/songwriter, Robert Lopata ponders how a song conveys a universal theme, expanding and resolving it in less than four minutes or so. “I feel it’s the best means of emulating emotion itself, within the concise format of the song,” explains Robert. “I write songs from the heart. I write about what I relate to from my past and present. I find that my own experiences are not so different from the greater themes that define us all. That’s where I believe I connect best to my audience.”
Writing music has always been at the forefront of Robert’s life, even when a change in circumstances resulted in years of isolation from the musical world. But the absence seemed only to strengthen the impact of his first solo effort, with the release of the cryptically named album “444” in early 2010. Robert has since embarked upon a new and dynamic chapter in his musical journey, culminating with the 2011 release of his second album “Whatever Happens”. As Robert puts it, “My lyrics center upon a life filled with meaningful relationships that have either come to an end, or the ever-present prospect that they someday will.”
“‘Whatever Happens’ speaks to those I may leave behind. My hope is that I’ve honored those relationships well, and the positive impact of my actions will survive me. That’s the significance of the lyric, ‘Whatever happens to me, you’ll always feel me there’.
