I Can Give You Nothing But Love is a catchy Rock&Roll song, and a great example of Robert Caruso’s best songwriting.
It is driven by 2 guitars, and a piano that’s quite down in the mix, and a great bassline. It culminates in a trademark Caruso crescendo, with the drums that go in double time and vocal harmonies in unison.
The song has also a subtle message, quite different from the majority of today’s Pop music.
Nothing But Love is sung from the standpoint of a poor musician who makes a living busking in London’s tube and falls in love wih a girl he sees every day taking the train home after work.

The song’s character deduces from the girl’s appearance that she has money, and probably many men who can offer her the kind of things that a busker never could. But the pennyless minstrel can offer something a lot rarer and more valuable: love.

This is a great, classic Rock&Roll song. A reviewer wrote that it sounds like the New York Dolls if they sold records and had chart hits.
