About this album

“Ecce Homo” is a Rock&Roll album full of great memorable songs. It’s Robert Caruso’s first album in several years, and a return to electric guitars and Rock’n’Roll. His last release was in fact When My Train Comes (Acetone Records, 1996), an acoustic album rooted in the Mississippi Delta Blues style that Caruso made his own, and which turned him into the most innovative artist seen in the Blues scene for a long time, according to many reviews in the music press. Since then Caruso has written two poetry collections. Towards the end of 2006 Caruso started playing small venues in London, playing electric guitar for the first time in years, and accompanied by bass and drums.
A ‘4 Song Promo’ containing Rebel, I Can Give You Nothing But Love, Lisa and Days Of Wine And Roses appeared in the summer of 2007, followed by the “Ecce Homo” album. The title has biblical origins, being the Latin for “Behold the man!”, that Pilate pronounced presenting Jesus after his scourging, perhaps a self-reference on Caruso’s part to his hassles with the music industry, his detox program, his time spent in the academic world, and the painful end of a relationhip with a woman, all themes present in “Ecce Homo“‘s songs.
The album is disarmingly straight-forward and direct, with Caruso on vocals, guitar and sometimes on piano and harmonica, David John on bass and backing vocals, and drums, played either by Caruso himself or an uncredited drummer.
