I hate hearing this. I really do, especially when it comes from someone who listens to all the same stuff. Yeah, I listen to metal. I listen to a lot of metal: death metal, black metal, sludge metal, doom metal, avant garde metal. Why is that such a bad thing? It's not the only thing I listen to, but other genres get the backseat while metal gets to ride shotgun.
Why is it bad when a metalhead listens to primarily metal but it's perfectly acceptable for rap/country/pop/electronic/et cetera to listen to primarily/just those genres?
And it's not just that people feel the need to tell me I need to expand my musical horizons, it's that they go out of their way to tell me. It's one thing when I say, "Hey, do you know anything that's not metal I might like?" Or when my girlfriend goes, "I think you might like this band, check 'em out sometime." But for a random stranger to tell me that I should expand my musical horizons…
21 Jan 2010, 08:49 by super_ruben09EDIT#3: Edited the shit out of it. The order you'll find on here isn't accurate at all. It can be found here.
EDIT#2: I upgraded to 30 on RYM. I'm too lazy to do it here, so if you want to see it, go to RYM.
EDIT: I updated the list. However, I'm too lazy to update it here, so you'll have to check the list on RYM for that. Hell Awaits was added (by throwing out the EP) and I also changed some positions.
Like many people said, the top 5 list was too short, so I made a 30 album one on RYM.
It can be found here.
I'll list the albums here (from 25 to 1), but for the explanations as to why, check the RYM list.

Welcome again to my final guide exploring Thrash Metal. This installment will focus on various hybrids of Thrash, mostly Techincal/Progressive Thrash, with some Blackened Thrash and Death-Thrash. Enjoy.
Absu: Absu are among the finest bands to blend Thrash with Black Metal. They are an eccentric band of Texans led by drummer and vocalist “Sir” Proscriptor McGovern. Absu’s debut, Barathrum VITROL, is fairly in the Death Metal camp and it was with subsequent releases that Absu began blending Thrash and Black into their own potent brew. Albums like Tara and the Sun of Tiphareph showcase this band’s adeptness and both writing epic songs and also furious Thrash fests that combine the best of both Thrash and Black Metal. I also quite like their lyrical content, which focuses on Mesopotamian and Celtic Mythologies. Rec albums: The Sun of Tiphareth, Tara, The Third Storm of Cythraul.
Anacrusis: One of my all time favorite Thrash acts. Anacrusis emerged from St. …

1 Nov 2009, 22:52 by FeatherofHuginnWhether due to the steady culmination of a cult following, fan pressure, snaky cashgrabs (*cough, cough, Pestilence, cough*), or simply the will to show the new kids on the block how it's done, waves and waves metalbands have been reforming left and right over the last few years, doing tours, releasing new material (for good or bad), and generally kicking ass. This journal is a little tool I'm going to use to keep track of who's back together, and who (in my opinion) still needs to get their ass in gear.
If you think I'm missing something please leave a comment.
Black Sabbath/Heaven And Hell- Get well soon Dio!
Comus (Not metal, but who cares...)
Deathrow (US, Pre-Pentagram)
