Biography

Austin, United States (2007 – present)

Ringo Deathstarr is a band from Austin, TX. Channelling influences such as My Bloody Valentine, Fugazi, The Cure, The Smiths and The Velvet Underground into their own unique sonic fingerprint, the band released their eponymous EP in 2007. This was followed by a string of singles and a series of international tours hitting both coasts and the streets of the UK and Japan. The band’s debut full-length album, Colour Trip, was released in February 2011 by Club AC30, followed by EPs collection Sparkler, and second album Mauve. They began 2014 with the God’s Dream EP, released in North America on Neon Sigh and Noyes, and have built a reputation for touring the US and Japan annually.

Great band, and from my old stomping grounds in Austin, too. Shame about the jokey name though. I mean, it's a funny joke, but it had me expecting something more noise-rock-y or pigfuck-ish. I'm a shoegaze soldier 'til the grave, so it was a nice surprise to find out they deal in ye olde mumble 'n roar.

They have definitely moved passed the (insert shoegaze band here) copy label IMO. Some of the best lives shows I've seen. Naked people humping guitars that are still connected to amps with FX pedals make some pretty interesting sounds.

Hey ! If someone has God's Dream, please share it with me ! I'm longing to hear this new record but I'm waiting for it to be released worldwide and not only Japan so I can buy it with normal shipping costs.
