  • Tags Clouds and Diversity Rating

    16 Nov 2006, 07:52 by C26000

I added the tag cloud option long time ago to Extra Stats, but recently while I was playing with it and browsing through some groups specialized in people with broad tastes in music,I decided to design a formula for being able to measure the level of diversity in someone's taste. I realized that the tag clouds can be used for that.

In this journal I will explain how the tag clouds and the diversity rating are generated by the Extra Stats.

The tags cloud is generated searching the tags ratings for each artist in your chart and multipling it for the number of tracks listened. for example if someone has the following 3 top artist and wants to make his or her tag cloud them (obviously It's better to use 50 artists)

    from first to last 420
    Carcass 230
    t.A.T.u. 150

Using the data from the webservices (I'm only going to use the top 3 tags for this example), can be obtained a rating for each tag.
  • Evanescence -- The Open Door [review] & Porcupine Tree -- In Absentia [gushing]

    16 Nov 2006, 01:20 by misaki_suzuhara

Oh, dear God. This album is the shittiest release this year yet that I've listened to. -_-; [Rihanna's new album would probably be high up the list, too.] I'd rather listen to even Justin Timberlake's new album, because at least I'd find it amusing. The day I turned 13, I actually watched TV -- can't remember which clip show, I think it was So Fresh? Hm. --, and the first clip I saw was SexyBack. I was too busy looking at my iPod to watch, but I had a huge fit of giggles. It's just so... stupid. It takes itself too seriously.

And that's another problem with The Open Door. It's stupid. Absolutely stupid. Let us first look at the lyrics to Sweet Sacrifice, which was so emo some person haxed up the and made it something like SwEEt SaCrIfice to match its emoness.

    "You poor sweet innocent thing
    Dry your eyes and testify
You know you live to break me -- don't deny"

I wonder, does Amy Lee, or whoever writes the lyrics for Evanescence, take poetry classes with Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day?

It seems as if an eerie and shivering calm has touched down over the R&B front.

Given the general disenchantment that most of 2006’s higher-profile *ahem* urban contemporary releases have elicited, though, it’s hardly a stretch to resolve that to be more of a warped blessing than anything else. Never mind the fact that once-upon-a-time surefire quality artists like Janet Jackson have conclusively shown that they’ll never get their groove back; that a white chick like Joss Stone – depressingly – made a stronger showing in the genre two years ago than many of her peers today; or that Usher’s Confessions, Seal's unjustly ill-received Seal IV and Keyshia Cole’s overlooked debut The Way It Is are a handful of truly great R&B records in nowhere-near-recent memory; it’s the fact that people really have entirely no clue what R&B is anymore that’s so ingratiating to me.

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 25 songs that play, not matter how embarassing.
Step 4: Bold out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

[1] Take your wings outside, you can't fly in here

[2] I'd like to be under the sea, in an octopus's garden in the shade

[3] The cadillac stood by the house, and the yanks they were within

[4] It's a little funny, this feeling inside

    [5] Loud talk, dumb love

[6] Possessions never meant anything to me

[7] Check, check, check, one, one, two

    [8] Oh I Am Crushed

[9] Hey there, hey over there

[10] A young cowboy name Billy Joe grew restless on the farm

    [11] It's a God awful small affair

[12] Dumbledore said, that we're the only ones that can save Sirius Black

[13] If I hold my breath, if I shut my eyes

[14] There you were, day after day, six feet, twenty feet

[15] I'm searching for my salvation

I'm totally loving the new All Saints album, it's fave tracks so far are "On & On", "Flashback", "Chick Fit" and "Fundamental". Anyone else loving this album? Don't forget to buy it on Nov 13th guys!

Also loving the new song by Gwen, didn't think i would but like most of her really grows on you. Girls Aloud have a lot of kewl stuff out atm too, altho i hope to go they don't split up...they've got a lot more to cover i feel, maybe on the next album they could work with other ppl aswell as Xenomania. Would be a good step after the Greatest Hits i reckon.

2007 should be a good year for music, much like this year looking back. Can't believe it's almost December but hey ho! Oooh, that's a Emma Bunton album "Life In Mono" out at the beginning of December, how kewl. …

    Rihanna - Unfaithful

    Story of my life
    Searching for the right
    But it keeps avoiding me
    Sorrow in my soul
    Cause it seems that wrong
    Really loves my company

    He's more than a man
And this is more than love
The reason that the sky is blue
    But clouds are rolling in
    Because I'm gone again
And to him I just can't be true

And I know that he knows I'm unfaithful
    And it kills him inside
To know that I am happy with some other guy
    I can see him dying

I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
Everytime I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
    I don't wanna be...
    A murderer

I feel it in the air
    As I'm doing my hair
    Preparing for another date
A kiss up on my cheek
    He's here reluctantly
As if I'm gonna be out late
    I say I won't be long
    Just hanging with the girls
    A lie I didn't have to tell
    Because we both know
    Where I'm about to go
And we know it very well
