13 Jul 2007, 08:45 by sinistradRiders on the storm - Effenaar, Eindhoven - 02-07-2007.
Riders On The Storm are the latest name for the reformed The Doors, who also went by the awkward name of The Doors of the 21st Century, but with a different lead singer. The effenaar looked like it had 1500 people or less. As a longtime fan of the Doors (inspired by the [album]LA women[/album] LP of my father) i was in doubt, to go or not to go. I am so glad i payed the €45 euros for the ticket. It was GREAT. I went with a friend and my father.
Lead singer Brett Scallions is no Jim Morrison, but he put a fair bit of effort into the show. Ray Manzarek and Robby Kreiger were the stars and they played like the masters they are. Krieger looked like a corpse and sounded like he had some kind of cerebral palsy when he introduced Manzarek, but he played the guitar beautifully.
Highlights included "LA Woman", "Riders on the Storm", and "Light My Fire", all of which evolved into extended jams. …
11 Jul 2007, 09:19 by voxmarkanYou know, there's this invisible and undefinable force preventing me from posting a whole page of "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I'VE SEEEN THE DOOOOOORS YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!"
so I've only spent a couple of lines bragging about that.
It was Friday, July 6th 07 and I attended the Doors' gig. And Jethro Tull. And Uriah Heep. And Colloseum. And Blood, Sweat & Tears. And Suzanne Vega. And It was awesome.
It was a festival called Lovely Days in St. Pölten, Austria, second year in a row. Last year the Who were headlining it, but enough said. The Doors (or Riders on the storm, to be exact) still are the real deal and their new singer mimics Jim almighty all the way down to urging people to take drugs. ("Now take that joint you've been carrying in your pocket for the whole day... put it in your mouth... light it up... …
2 Jul 2007, 11:53 by FinalD87I love music, really I do. And by music I mean good music, like the music artists made a few decades ago. Nowadays there's much less good music.
Because I like good music, I decided to visit a festival: Arrow Rock Festival. It was held last saturday (that be June 30rd, 2007) at the Walibi World amusement park. Well, not IN the park itself, but on its surrounding terrain.
It's times like these that I wish I had learn some more English. It takes me minutes to find the right words...
Anyway... So there I was saturday. Up at 7:00 am, at the festival at 11:00 am, waiting until 12:00 am for the place to open up, walking around the terrain for an hour before the first band to play...
(Don't mind the times too much, it only indicates the time I was there, not the time a band played.)
I only knew one song anyway, but after listening for about half an hour, I was convinced I should get me some more Tesla music! This is true hard rock! (Or metal, or what ever, who cares about genres anyway. …

Riders on the storm
Great gig at the Roundhouse to see in the new year with 'The Doors' in the form of Riders on the Storm! The atmosphere was great, the Roundhouse being home to the legendary 1968 gig in which the band apparently received the longest ovation ever (at the time)
Tickets were pricey, but not the £500 some people paid to sit right at the front and meet the band. Even before the gig started though we were told to get out of our seats and go to the front standing, so all the elaborate seating plan went totally out of the window.
The gig was fantastic, the band playing all their hits in two shorter sets, although they were running late by the end of the first one so the beer break was quite short. Ray and Robby were on top of their game and even though they're getting on a bit now, they showed they still had it. Ian Astbury was fantastic on lead vocals, straying now and then into a Jim Morrison-esque performance, but never quite taking him off. …

Depeche Mode - Yeah, I may have seen them last weekend, but I want MORE!
The Rolling Stones - This will be my first time, WEEE!
Korn - Seen twice before (Roskilde '03 and Valby-Hallen last december)

Tool - Roskilde '06, last visit '01. Which was the year before I started attending :-(
Deftones - EXACTLY THE SAME AS ABOVE! WEE!
Guns 'N Roses - Well, not a huge fan, but I'm not gonna miss it anyway. Even if it is only Axl Rose and some random bandmembers.
Volbeat - Roskilde again. Haven't listened to them yet, but it's on my todo
