Acoustic Cuts is a showcase for Richie Kotzens songwriting talents from the era starting after his exit from supestar rockbands Poison and Mr.Big, The songs are pulled from multiple albums but delivered with just Richie and his acoustic guitar. The songs are stripped of any overproduction that have plagued several of his releases at the turn of the millenium. Kotzen has always had the technical ability to amaze, but on this album he lets his ever increasing vocal ability shine. The tracks are brought to life with a heartfelt delivery throughout. The best tracks showcase a truly underappreciated artist and any fan of John Mayer and similar artists will be happy they picked up a copy of this fine release. Kotzen himself has stated in interviews that most of the songs on Acoustic Cuts are actually his favorite versions. Even surpassing the studio versions of the songs.
