    Of course it's the Dutchman. End of story. Any doubts, listen to it on disc/cassette/anywhere, or ask any Wagnerite or Steuermann.

    That is the ouverture to "The flying Dutchman". Absolutely and no doubt about it! I have heard it too many times to confuse it with Tannhäuser. 100% guarantee! Don't you hear the music of Sentas ballade, of the Dutchmans desperate aria, of the "johohee"?

    what is all this bollox in these shout boxes? das IST die ouverture fur Tannhäuser! end of - and of course he's on tour, strange stick person, he's always on tour - he's in Melbourne next year (o joy o bliss) and with four of the big music dramas, not this early operatic lollipop :P
