“Persuasion” was written by Tim Finn and Richard Thompson. The tune appears as an instrumental on the soundtrack that Thompson wrote for the 1992 movie Sweet Talker.

In January 1998 Thompson toured with his son Teddy Thompson as the support act. Teddy joined his father each night to perform some duets. Several of these are included on the live album Celtschmerz - most notably “A Heart Needs A Home”, which is associated with Teddy’s mother Linda Thompson, and “Persuasion”.
