Rhinocervs is a label based out of Southern California, often releasing uncredited and/or untitled cassettes. The label prioritizes art over artist - not the cult of personality attached. Anonymous releases are differentiated by catalog number and artwork. Not all of Rhinocervs output is untitled, bands signed to the label include Odz Manouk, Tukaaria, Absum, Nihilobstat, and Glossolalia.

lol, bvnches. well, i just thought you were talking to us nerds who were specifically discussing btc/rhino/cn robbery. --- Evisceratorium: According to what I found out, there's an artist friend of these guys who at least did some early artwork for rhino/btc/cn stuff. It is unknown exactly which art though, or if any of the later artworks are done by the same person, but I'm guessing that there is some likelihood to this. So, without having direct (or even current 3rd party) contact to the members, this is the best working hypothesis at the moment, IMO. Sorry I couldn't give you a more definitive answer, though.

BTW, for anyone who just has the sun okklt rip of RH-16 and would prefer individual tracks, you can grab my VBR (V0) version here: . It arguably boasts better sound quality too since it is taken from their bandcamp digital download page and not ripped from tape.

you might but I'm sure there are other repulsive nerds who might stumble across this band's page and be relieved they don't have to spend over twenty bucks on a cassette they're not going to get... a cassette....

Please do so! I'm interested in hearing what's going on with the two, especially Devon. They may be scumbags in a couple of regards, but they admittedly make some pretty great music. Also, a week ago I managed to snag Odour of Dust & Rot, RH-07 and RH-11 for relatively cheap from a German seller. It's ridiculous how much money I've dumped into rounding up these guys' releases but eh, having physical copies to remind me that the project was actually a real thing and not just Internet hype is nice.

pretty sure most of us already have the entire rhino discography on mp3, bvnches. --- Evisceratorium: yeah I seen those vinyls up on Final Agony. Have no clue about the art. I've been trying google image searches on the artwork itself but to no avail. I actually know this girl who apparently used to date Yagian. I'll ask her if she's still in contact with him and if so, what he has to say.

Hm, good point. Honestly, you may be onto something... I know that at least one of the Rhinocervs tapes I owned shipped from SoCal, though it was $16 which is expensive by tape standards but not ridiculously so. It was brand new, too, though it had some sort of sticker on it like it had been filed in the index of a local music shop (???). It's pretty funny how quiet they've been lately, what with setting up a Bandcamp and then (as far as I know) not linking to it anywhere, just leaving it there to be found, then operating through Final Agony to release their vinyl while making no announcements otherwise... it's like they've finally realized nobody is dumb enough to deal with them directly anymore. I'm betting that after all these vinyl reissues are done, they'll officially split up and then form some new obscure project with a new name but the same business model. Also, thinking aloud: who are they stealing their art from? I doubt they have the money to commission stuff that nice.

Evisceratorium -- I think you may have answered your own question (or perhaps you were being rhetorical, in which case you may be onto something). That is, problems shipping out RH-16 en masse, then copies showing up on discogs at exorbitant prices 6 months later; looks like they're one of the few unscrupulous labels that figured out selling their shit 2nd hand would fetch a lot more money when demand for their poorly supplied tapes reached a fever pitch. Actually, if it weren't the fact that people were ripped off on their original orders, I probably wouldn't care so much (if someone should make marked up profit on music it should be the indie bands/labels... not "scalpers"). But if they're going to do that, at least do a very limited, but honest, run at normal prices available to the public... then sell half of it "2nd hand". But, maybe the overhead was more than they could afford as is, so w/out ripping folks off they wouldn't have any stock to sell 2nd hand. Purely conjecture tho.

↓ Oh, and OF COURSE the first two they release are (in the case of RH-13) some of their least essential material to date and (for RH-14) still readily available online. Why not release RH-16 on vinyl? I'm willing to bet that only like three people actually own that one, considering the label's whole shipping fiasco around that time.

Yeah, I saw that too! Nice to see Final Agony will be reissuing some of their stuff later this year, god knows how nice it'll be to get their stuff from a reliable record label so I don't have to whore myself out to afford whatever the Discogs sellers feel like charging.
