Biography

In loving memory of Reuben “Reu” Kee (9 July 1984 - 23 Nov 2007) of Singapore.

Reuben played around with the piano from a very young age, but it was when he was 12 that he decided to pick it up on his own.

Drawn to music which he heard in games, he started to play his own arrangements and variations based on them.

Furthering his skills throughout the years, he was given the opportunity to President the school’s piano ensemble during his polytechnic years as a self-taught pianist.

He also joined Yamaha’s Magic Fingers 2003 contest and made through the quarter and semi finals to make it into the finals and top 8.

He composed original music for games, experimenting into different combinations of genres for several game projects and shared his joy of music with many of us.

On November 25, 2007, Reuben was found dead after drowning due to a boating accident. He was 23.

I can't listen to his music anymore without getting really emotional...even the happy stuff. I didn't know him, but he was so incredibly talented and it's a tragedy that he he went before his time. Rest in peace.

Reuben has written some of the most beautiful arrangements to video game music, rivaling and surpassing those done by professionals who have been into music longer than he has graced the earth. His music will be there to enjoy forever, he won't be forgotten. Thank you for your most wonderful music.

It really bums me out that he's not writing any more. He filled a niche that nobody else is up to.

Have been trying to find the right words....I have listen to your music and others at OC Remixes since 4.5 years. always wanted to say how great it was (and Zircons)...After hearing this I chose to join OC Remix and will keep playing your music in remembrance of your great and amaizing talent. You remind me always of Makoto Shinkai in the way you expressed your emotions and view of the world....
