Republic of Letters developed their sound, rich with heart-swelling choruses, energizing rhythms and passionate vocal performances influences such as The Who, Editors, U2, Bruce Springsteen and The Police. When they set foot on stage, the band is determined grab a hold of the shirt collars and hearts of every listener and naysayer.
Having attracted the attention of producer Brian Karscig (Louis XIV), the group set off into the hills of San Diego for a month of tracking. They came out with an amazing debut album, “Stories”, due to be released in April 2011. Stories is their much-anticipated follow up to a six-song EP, Spirit or a Ghost, recorded in March 2007 at Big Fish Recording Studios with producer, Ben Moore, who has worked with famed artists such as Switchfoot, Rocket from the Crypt and Hot Snakes. Republic of Letters recorded their first official demo with Marc Jordan who helped co-produce and engineer the three songs in 2005.
Republic of Letters has humbly gained radio momentum appearing on college, AAA and major rock Stations nation wide. Locally the band is in regular rotation on 91X , FM 94/9, KPRI 102.1 and Sophie 103.7. The band is working on a tour to help promote the buzz and demand that has been created from online fans and listeners.
RoL’s relentless work ethic seems to be paying off from touring, recording, and song writing. Republic of Letters is rare among bands as 90% of their material is written as a group. Capitalizing off this rare chemistry the band had the fortune of going into the last recording with over 40 songs to choose from and has written another albums worth of material since. They are currently in the studio tracking their new tunes for the next release. Great things to come from this young new band.
