Biography

Reinhard Friedrich Michael Mey (born December 21, 1942, Berlin) is a German singer-songwriter, also known as a Liedermacher. In France he is known as Frédérik Mey.

And although he is known as a German singer, he has also recorded songs in Dutch. “Als de dag van toen” has become a favourite among Dutch fans. His song “Gute nacht Freunde”
is still the ending tune of the well known Dutch radio show “Met het oog op morgen”. Every night a few minutes after eleven the song is played.

    You have to admit what you don't know because you don't know what you don't know until someone tells you something you didn't know or you lean something new that you didn't know. So, what you didn't know by accident or by stumbling onto or learn about are all those things you didn't know anything about until one of these events actually happened. But then on the other hand, I know that I don't know. I just know what it is yet. But I will know as soon as it comes along to me. And if it doesn't then I'll never know. It's a mystery.

    ich kann den 7. Mai kaum erwarten. Da kommt Reinhard Mey´s neues Album "Mairegen" raus. Einen Titel "gegen den Wind" durfte ich mir schon anhören. Für mich wird er mit jedem Album besser (falls das überhaupt noch möglich ist) . Ich wünsche ihm (und uns) das ewige Leben, damit er uns noch lange mit seinen Chansons erfreuen kann. Für mich ist er der bedeutendste, lyrischste Liedermacher überhaupt, ein moderner Minnesänger eben. Seit 36 Jahren habe ich keines seiner Konzerte verpasst und freue mich schon auf das im nächsten Jahr. Aus tiefstem Herzen wünsche ich seinem Sohn, Max, baldige, vollständige Genesung und bis dahin Reinhard Mey und seiner Familie die Kraft, das schwere Schicksal zu meistern. ---- Danke, Reinhard, für alle deine Lieder!
