And I'm not misinterpreting the lyrics either but i thought it meant she wasn't an atheist. But I guess atheists or people who aren't atheists, like me, can appreciate it.

This is one of the most emotional songs I've ever heard. It gets me every time.

To get what I'm trying to say, imagine "No one's laughing at God" is replaced with "People only pray to God ." People only pray to God in a hospital. People only pray to God in a war. People only pray to God when they're starving or freezing and so very poor.

People keep saying "I like this song, but I'm an atheist." You realize Regina is atheist, right? The point of the song is that no one laughs at God when they need him. People pray when they're afraid and want God to make it better like a "genie." It's a satire on the human condition. This song is beautiful, especially the lyrics. Everyone is guilty of this in some way, shape or form, and she understands that...

The message of the lyrics - at least to me - is that even the greatest atheists, those who laugh with God in cocktails, reclaim his name and presence when afraid, or close to death. Because as said once Dostoyevsky, "God is the fear of after death". (and btw, sorry for poor english)

Pokes gentle, sweet fun at pretty much all of us, in one way or another. She could have been more straightforward lyrically, but I'm not sure I'd like it as much.

I'm a nihilist. And i don't have to agree with the lyrics to find them good;)

Songs don't need to have a hidden meaning or whatever, you know.

This song has one of the best, or maybe even the best lyrics I have ever heard in a song.

This song means that, whatever we do in our life and whatever happens god is always the solution we all need god when we're sad or in troubles
