About This Track
“Hump de Bump” is a song by American alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers from their 2006 studio album Stadium Arcadium.
The song is the fifth and final single released from the album. Originally expected to be the 4th single for the US, Canada and Australia, (“Desecration Smile” was the 4th single released internationally) the band decided to make the single and video a worldwide release thanks to the positive feedback on the song’s music video.
Despite the change in musical style of the rest of Stadium Arcadium, “Hump de Bump“‘s sound is similar to that of the band’s earlier albums such as 1985’s freaky styley. The track was originally titled “Ghost Dance 2000”, as the bassline is similar to an older Red Hot Chili Peppers song, “American Ghost Dance”, actually from Freaky Styley. The title was changed to “Hump de Bump” near the end of recording.
