2. Reality Check is a Christian alternative rock band that formed in the mid 1990’s with the support of Michael Tait of DC Talk. Originally consisting of three members, Chris Blaney, Nathan Barlowe, and Rod Shuler, the band grew to eight members before disbanding in 1998. Two members of Reality Check, Nathan Barlowe and Jonny MacIntosh, went on to help form Luna Halo.

After releasing an independent album called Soulfood, Reality Check released a self-titled album through Star Song Communications on June 3, 1997. This album contains two tracks featuring that same DC Talker Michael Tait. The next year, Reality Check disbanded for unknown reasons.

Reality Check could be described as a mix of PFR and aforementioned DC Talk.

    Whoa, nostalgia like a brick to the head! My friend listened to these guys like crazy back in like 1995... I remember "Carousel" and "Masquerade" like it was yesterday. Can't stand Christian music nowadays, but these guys I could probably still tolerate.

    Have a great story about how I met Chris Blaney of Reality Check. Was at a hotel in Fresno, CA when the LORD spoke to me and said "go to the lobby" at about 10pm. I went to the hotel lobby and sat and waited for further instruction. A guy walks in & goes to the front desk & asks if there's a hotel van to give him a ride to get something to eat. They didn't have one running that late. I overhear that he's in an alternative rock band. The LORD tells me to go give him a ride. So I go introduce myself & tell him I'll give him a ride. I'm thinking I'm supposed to share the gospel w/ him. When we get in the car & start talking I get totally convicted for misjudging him when I find out he's in a Christian rock band - Reality Check! We end up at Burger King having great fellowship & really encouraging each other with things God is teaching us!
