Biography

Real O is a four-girl pop group from Ukraine. The group’s story began in December 2008, when singer and musical director of Ukraine’s t.v. talent show Star Factory, Natalia Mohilevska (Ukr. Наталія Могилевська), decided to create a group from four participants of the reality show.

From the beginning, everyone wondered about the significance of the name ‘Real O’. There’s a semi-mystical story connected to this: when the group’s name had been decided, group member Alisa had a dream, in which the letters R, E, A, L, O were parts of a puzzle. The letters of the name aren’t random, but the initial letters of the girls names: Regina, Elena, Alisa, Lina. (Mohlievska also had a hit as a singer with a song named ‘Real O’.) Each member is also said to stand for one of the four metaphysical elements: Lina - water; Regina - air; Alisa - fire; Elena - earth.

Real O’s first music video - for the song “Я бы…” (‘I would…’) - was directed by the celebrated Alan Badoev. Another half dozen videos have followed, but no album has yet been released.
