Biography

Re-Flex was a British techno-pop/ dance group featuring Baxter (vocals), Paul Fishman (keyboards), Nigel Ross-Scott (bass), and Roland Kerridge (drums). Their only big hit song, “The Politics of Dancing,” was recorded in 1982 and released in the U.S. in 1984, when it reached #24. The follow-up single, “Hurt”, hit the Billboard Hot 100 as well. The band’s follow-up album “Humanication” was shelved and never released, although its first single “How Much Longer” did get released as a 12” single.

“The Politics of Dancing” was also used in the 1985 movie “Red” and the 1998 movie “Edge Of Seventeen.”

The wait is over. The Politics of Dancing has been remastered and re-issued. Check out http://www.re-flex.info/SHOP/Reflex/shop.html for the details. I can heartily recommend the boxed set.

I still cannot get enough of Re-Flex... I have great memories of seeing them live in concert with The Thompson Twins back in (I believe it was) 1984... I was a huge Thompson Twins fan, but I wanted to go even more b/c Re-Flex was opening... The Politics of Dancing is still one of my all time favorite albums... Glad to see new activity with Re-Flex... Hopefully 2010 will bring something new... Hoping...

The Politics of Dancing was released on CD back in 1994 by One-Way Records & Cema Special Markets. Cema was a division of Capitol Records. I was down-right lucky to find a copy in 2001. Crazy prices on Amazon.

Silly record companies sitting on great albums like this and not putting it up for sale. Has anybody seen the Amazon prices for CDs? How difficult is it? No disc, no cover art to print, and we provide the money! All they have to do is provide a server and maybe a lossless format such as WAV. I bought the album in vinyl, how about streaming some bits?
