8 Dec 2010, 13:32 by eXigyTue 7 Dec – Ratatat, Minotaur Shock
A great opening act by Minotaur Shock (violin interludes were great).
And a sick Ratatat show, as usual.
With a purely awesome Mike Stroud.
p.s. Gettysburg still has that shiveringly slow intro live, just like 1.5 years ago.

4 Jan 2009, 23:08 by GobberGoThe other day a friend wrote about a great idea in a Facebook note that I'm going to copy.A friend told me about a friend's idea to make up a 12 song play list or mix to represent the past year, one song for each month. He made one, she made one, and I spent most of December driving myself nuts trying to put together mine. All the while I was thinking to myself, "why didn't I think of this earlier?!" I mean, it really is genius. Say you make a mix each year for like ten years. Then you can dig out a CD, or a tape, or a whatever, and remind yourself "this is what 2004 was like" for better or for worse. Man, I hope I can remember to do this at the end of this year. Of course, your interpretation of "a song for each month" can vary; the music itself can represent a mood, a certain lyric can be a summation of an emotional state, the song can be tied into a specific event, whatever. It's so open-ended, I almost didn't sleep for a week thinking about all of the possibilities.

"The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause."
3 Sep 2008, 07:04 by BTapeTue 2 Sep – Ratatat
E*Rock was all right, just a bit too much going on all at once in his music. Some of it was really good though.
Panther was decent, though I didn't get into a lot of it.
Ratatat blew everyone away. They started off a bit slow, then banged out a few great songs from the new album. Obvious hits were performed well and had everyone dancing, same with the lesser known songs. The show was sold out, so I decided to stay upstairs all night with the cool kids. Some crowd surfing went on that I'm glad to have seen from a distance. There was some weird guy with an erasable writing board and some light helmet thing, I guess it was performance art.
Here are a few tracks I can remember that they played:
Mirando (along with the video based on Predator footage)

1.How did you get into 29? (Cake)
screenagerJ played me a few of their songs while riding bus 184 back in middle school, haha.
2. What's the first song you ever heard by 22? (Yelle)
Ce Jeu, the first track on Pop Up. TY, CB.
3. What's your favorite lyric by 33? (Franz Ferdinand)
The Dark of the Matinée
I time every journey to bump into you, accidentally
I charm you and tell you of the boys I hate
All the girls I hate
All the words I hate
All the clothes I hate
How I'll never be anything I hate
You smile, mention something that you like
How you'd have a happy life if you did the things you like
4. How did you get into 49? (The Servant)
I heard the instrumental of Cells in the trailer for Sin City and was hooked. This band is a really good summary of what I listened to in 2005. Jack aided and abetted this obsession.
5. How many albums by 13 do you own? (The Pipettes)

Ok, so I was only alive for 6 days of the 80’s but the influences, sounds and look the decade streches out far beyond 1989. And that logo instantly throws up memories of cartoons such as Thundercats and He-Man. Simiarlly the music sounds like the era, this track Mirando off this summers forthcoming ‘LP3′ mixes up more organic ‘world music’ sounds with the sounds of a 8-bit soundtrack that feels like its taken straight off a SNES videogame.
I’ve already had Justice remixing Lupe Fiasco, now I have Justice being remixed themselves. But this time with far greater success. Enjoy, Soulwax remixing album highlight ‘Phantom Pt II’
