Rankin Street is the precursor of the Canadian folk-rock group Great Big Sea. Along with several others including Jackie St. Croix, Jeff Scott and Susan Hickey, future GBS members Sean McCann, Bob Hallet, and Darrell Power played mostly in pubs around St. John's, Newfoundland.
