Biography

South Korea (2011 – present)

RaNia (라니아) are a 6-member South Korean pop girl grouo co-produced by Teddy Riley and DR Music, the label behind the hit girl group, Baby V.O.X.

The group is comprised of Saem, Riko, Jooyi, Di, T-ae and Xia; former member Joy is from Thailand, former members Yijo and Sarah are both Chinese, and current member Riko is Korean-Japanese. The girls are reportedly fluent in English, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and Korean.

They debuted in 2011, with their digital single, Teddy Riley, The First Expansion In Asia. They made their first comeback on November 17, 2011 with the song “Pop Pop Pop”, then made another comeback on September 22, 2012 as a five member group (Saem, Riko, Di, T-ae and Xia) with the song “Style”, which was produced by YG Entertainment.

Member Jooyi is currently on hiatus and reportedly working on a solo project, while Joy has left the group due to dissatisfaction over her career as a musician and (reportedly) not being able to have a boyfriend. DR Music released a statement saying Joy was “taking time off” to visit her family in Thailand who had allegedly suffered some damage in a flood, but Joy has since posted on her Facebook and Twitter pages that she is a “former” member of RaNia, and will possibly be doing her own solo work in the future.
