• Most Scrobbled: 2011

Sueño Electro II, Tanzomat, A Hundred Days Off, A Collection, 1992 - 2012 The Antology, Discovery, Heat EP: All Pain is Beat, We Started Nothing, Of Faith, Power And Glory, The Dance, Sound Pressure 2.0, Deep Cuts, Athens, Tron Legacy: Reconfigured, Dulce Beat 2. …

  • 50000 Tracks (Huge Journal Entry)

    20 Apr 2006, 11:08 by cartbot

Some time recently I reached the 50000 plays on Last.fm/Audioscrobbler. It might have been yesterday, but I'm not really sure with the way my track count is updating. If it was yesterday, my 50000th scrobbled track was Paz Suite 4. I don't really think my 50000 playcount is honest as to what I've actually listened to though, since pretty much every night I make a playlist of music to listen to as I fall asleep. Is that cheating? I don't know.

But what I've decided to to in this journal entry is to go through all my weekly top artists since I first signed up and see if there is anything interesting to say about them. If there is something interesting to say I'll say it. If there isn't I'll say something uninteresting. So I guess I'll start now...

    13 February 2005: Autechre (34)
What is there to say about Autechre. They've been my #1 artist here since day one, and they probably will be forever. Maybe. In my early days here it seemed like Autechre was on the top of the weekly chart a lot more than they are now. …
  • Ten Good Albums I Heard In 2005

    24 Dec 2005, 05:20 by cartbot

Since I'm not rich or a P2P user I'm not going to make up a "best of 2005" list (and even if I was, I wouldn't want to delude myself into thinking I'd heard enough music to declare "the best"), but will make a list of ten of the most excellent and memorable albums I heard this year. So actually this has hardly anything to do with the year 2005; most of these albums were released in other years.

    10. Monolake - Polygon Cities (Imbalance Computer Music)
A solid minimal techno or whatever album. It's not groundbreaking but it's good. This is the first Monolake album I own and I will probably be buying more some time in the future.

    9. Mikkel Metal - Cassini Pieces (Thinner)
Yeah, it's a netlabel release, but a very good one. Minimal dub techno house or something (I hate genre names). Sort of similar to Kit Clayton's album on ~Scape, but better, in my opinion.
  • Garage Sale Part 2 (and More)

    2 Oct 2005, 23:24 by cartbot

On Tuesday of last week I went to the "World's Largest Garage Sale" a second time. I didn't find as much this time, but I still got some good music at a very low price.

Neotek - Brain Over Muscle (Deluxe Edition)
Pretty OK industrial or EBM (what a dumb genre name). I don't listen to this kind of music much so I can't really give an "expert opinion" or anything, but I like it.

    Nouvelle Vague - Nouvelle Vague
Bossa nova covers of new wave classics is what this is, I guess. I bought it because it was on the Peacefrog label, and I can't say I'm familiar with either of the genres involved, but it's pretty good.

Various Artists - Little Darla Has a Treat for You v.21
Sampler from a pretty decent label. It has an I Am Robot and Proud track on it (which I already have). I am really liking "Mobira" by Printed Circuit though.

    Seth Horan - Conduit
Look at this cover and tell me what kind of music it is:

  • My Trip to the World's Largest Garage Sale (Part 1?)

    25 Sep 2005, 19:43 by cartbot

Every year the American Cancer Society put on "The World's Largest Garage Sale" here at about this time of year and I always make sure to go to pick up some CDs at very low prices. Yesterday I got 11 CDs, and I might go again on the last day (which is half-price day) if I can make it. Here's what I got yesterday:

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - Source Tags & Codes
I don't even really like most of the songs by these guys, but I heard one that I really liked ("Another Morning Stoner") on Last.fm radio and figured I'd buy this. It might even grow on me.

    Copywrite - The High Exhaulted
Copywrite rapped on "June", the best song on RJD2's album, which also happens to be included on this CD. I definitely need to give the entire disc more time, but right now I think "Seven Light Years" is excellent.

DJ Thomas/Welcome Stranger - Tropical Hot Dog
I bought this one because it was released on the same label as Tipper's "Surrounded"…
